Micron Announces S600DC Series of SAS SSDs — First Offering From Micron/Seagate Strategic Alliance
Micron Technology, Inc, a world-leading producer of NAND flash devices, is announcing a new family of SAS solid-state drives (SSDs) that are optimized for demanding enterprise 24/7 usage applications. The new S600DC family represents the first Micron product that is a result of the Micron/Seagate strategic alliance.
Micron's new S600DC series gives IT managers a compelling solution, incorporating a superior package of user advantages, including consistent performance, industry-leading capacity, and superior data availability and data security. These types of features delivered by flash storage are driving a reported 59% annual growth rate in the SAS SSD market. Much of this is from business-critical and data-intensive applications such as credit card transactions processing and health records processing, where the emphasis is on data availability and reliability.
According to Darren Thomas, Micron's vice president of storage, "These new SAS drives fill a critical position in our enterprise SSD portfolio, expanding storage solutions that cross applications, workloads and interfaces. These offerings extend our leadership as an end-to-end enterprise flash storage provider, from technology all the way to our workload optimized SSDs."
The S600DC family of SAS SSDs includes the S610DC (for read-intensive workloads), the S630DC (for mixed read/write workloads), and the S650DC (for write-intensive workloads). These drives deliver the performance advantages of Micron's trusted flash storage expertise and technology, while also featuring the enterprise-level reliability, capacity and encryption that today's storage architects are demanding.
Brett Pemble, general manager of the flash products division at Seagate Cloud Systems and Electronics Solutions, observes that "Our partners and customers depend on flash technologies to meet the challenges of providing fast performance in data analytics, while staying within expenditure limits. The Micron-Seagate partnership created the storage technology necessary in this offering to exceed their expectations."
Micron's S600DC series of SAS SSDs offer industry-leading storage density — up to nearly 4TB in a 2.5″ form factor. A dual-port SAS interface means that the S600DC series can attain high performance to the tune of (up to) 1800MB/s sequential read speeds, while providing high data availability with failover redundancy. Power Loss Protection (PLP) ensure data integrity, and prevents data loss in the event of an unanticipated power interruption. Full internal and external data path protection ensures reliability, as well as multi-layered error recovery technology and advanced error detection and correction encoding (ECC) that is optimized for NAND media.
Micron's S600DC family of SAS SSDs are in initial production, and they will be sold directly to data center hardware manufacturers, and through Micron's authorized distribution partners. More here: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=965080230200197&id=473541326020759

How To Save Money On Credit Card Processing and Avoid Merchant Services Scams (http://gplus.ly/1LQRoCh)

Small business owners across the U.S. are constantly being solicited by credit card processing companies via telephone, postcard and sales visits with offers of "The Best Rates", "The Lowest Rates", "Free Credit Card Terminals". Many of them are promised there is "No Contract" or that they can "Cancel At Any Time".

Unfortunately, these same business owners find themselves paying significantly more after review of their first few monthly processing statements. Sadly, many do not even realize it for months or even years. They have simply chosen to trust the salesperson's that their businesses best interests are being protected.

Most of these business owners end up locked into 3-5 year processing contracts with early termination fees of $250 – $750 or more. Many of them are even locked into expensive leasing contracts for 48-60 months on hardware they could purchase for a fraction of the total cost of leasing.

We have put together a list of tips will help business owners save time, money and stress no matter who they choose for credit card processing: (http://gplus.ly/1LQRoCh
